 Yu Chenrui, born in Chengdu in 1992, after graduating from The Communication University of China, decided to resign and returned to his hometown. He is now engaged in an unpopular industry with only less than 10 practitioners in China —automata creation. Having started his studio for just two years, he has now made a lot of interesting toys that friends of his fell for, and he was also invited to international exhibitions. His works appear to be fun and easy, when in fact they are a combination of ingenious gears and design which impresses even mechanical engineers.

 I have wanted to do this subject ever since I started making automata. It has not been commissioned,I am just doing it for fun. I may be able to sell it when it is finished , the cartoon museum in London want to exhibit it which is great. It is very nice to not be working for money, I feel I have a lot more freedom to go crazy...."
